# Language Pack Update/Upload

This guide will help EPICOR users upload a new Language Pack file or update an existing language that is previously installed in EKW via their server.

Language pack files can also be edited or customized depending on a user’s needs. This guide will also instruct users how to make language changes for EKW.

**NOTE:** It is prerequisite that the relevant language supported by EKW (Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, French Canadian or Swedish) is installed on the Epicor server first according to instructions provided in **Epicor ERP 10 Installation Guide/Kinetic Help**.

## **I. Uploading/Updating in EPICOR ERP Client** <a href="#i.-uploading-updating-in-epicor-erp-client" id="i.-uploading-updating-in-epicor-erp-client"></a>

1. Download the XML file of the Language pack that needs to be installed via [EPICOR Kinetic Warehouse - Language Packs](/epicor-kinetic-warehouse/epicor-kinetic-warehouse-language-pack-updateupload/epicor-kinetic-warehouse-language-packs.md) .
2. Click on the link that is associated to the **Language** that will be installed.

**NOTE:** Language packs are always updated in this page. When a new update on a language pack has been made, the latest file will be uploaded in the page for users to download and update their Language in **EKW**.

3. Save the file into your computer.
4. Open and login to the **EPICOR ERP Client**.

5. Go to **Browse.**
6. Type in “Language Maintenance **”** in the search box and click on **Language Maintenance**.

7. In the **Language Maintenance** window, click on **Actions.**&#x20;

8. Select **Import Translations.**

9. Select the file that was previously downloaded from the folder.

   <div data-gb-custom-block data-tag="hint" data-style="info" class="hint hint-info"><p><strong>NOTE:</strong> This method can also be used to overwrite or update a current language pack that was previously installed.</p></div>

   1. Tick the **Overwrite Existing Translations** checkbox if the user will overwrite the previous current language pack installed.
   2. Un-tick the **Overwrite Existing Translations** checkbox if the user will only add updates to the language previously installed.<br>
10. Click on **Import**.
11. A pop-up message will appear to confirm that the importing process has been completed.

12\. Click on **OK.**

## **II. How to edit or make custom changes to the Language Pack file** <a href="#ii.-how-to-edit-or-make-custom-changes-to-the-language-pack-file" id="ii.-how-to-edit-or-make-custom-changes-to-the-language-pack-file"></a>

Users can make changes to the language packs if there are inaccurate translations or preferred terms to be used that is reflected in EKW.

1. In the folder where the XML or language pack file was saved, right-click on the file and select **Edit with Notepad**.<br>

2. Once opened, the file will be opened as a document and the values can be edited.

3. Click on **File** and select **Save**.

## **III. How to Setup Language Preference in EPICOR ERP Client** <a href="#iii.-how-to-setup-language-preference-in-epicor-erp-client" id="iii.-how-to-setup-language-preference-in-epicor-erp-client"></a>

This Guide will help users pre-define a language setup for specific users in EKW.

1. In **EPICOR ERP Client**, select **User Account Security Maintenance**.<br>

2. Search for the user by typing their User ID in the **User** **ID** field.<br>

3. Hit **Enter**.<br>

4. In the **Language** field, select the preferred Language to be used in EKW.<br>

5. Click on the **Save** icon to save the language settings for the user.

## **IV.   How to change the Language in EKW** <a href="#iv.-how-to-change-the-language-in-ekw" id="iv.-how-to-change-the-language-in-ekw"></a>

This guide will help users change their preferred language in EKW.

1. Login to **EKW** application and tap on the **User** ico&#x6E;**.**<br>

2. Select **Language**.<br>

3. Using the drop-down option, select the prefer language to use.

**NOTE:** By default, English is the set language for EKW. There are two other language options to select from that is pre-installed in EKW and Spanish and Chinese. Other languages can be set for a user in EKW if they are pre-defined using the EPICOR ERP Client.<br>
